Introducing Algebra Tiles WORKSHEET
Introducing Algebra Tiles WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Algebra tiles provide a tangible way to represent abstract algebraic concepts. This hands-on approach helps students visualise and understand operations involving variables and constants. Set your students up for further algebraic manipulation by first introducing them to algebra tiles, in particular collecting like terms.
Learners are introduced to the tiles and are then asked to match five expressions with the correct representation.
Then, in section B, pupils will draw algebra tiles to match 9 expressions.
Section C concludes the worksheet by asking students to write down nine expressions represented by more drawings of algebra tiles.
Tiles used are: x^2, - x^2, x, -x, 1 and -1.
All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.
