Translating Graphs WORKSHEET

Suitable for Year groups: Year 10, Year 11
GCSE Tier: Higher
Targeting grades: 8-9
Prerequisite knowledge: Translation using vectors. Use of f(x) notation.
Learning Objective: Sketch translations of the graph of a given function

Translating Graphs WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Learners will translate graphs vertically and horizontally using function notation throughout this worksheet.

Students will start with a recap on translating by vectors as they write down the translation vector that maps one coordinate to another.

Next students match translations in terms of f(x) to the corresponding translation vector.

In section C, learners will write down the coordinates of turning points after three translations in terms of f(x).

Then, section D asks learners to sketch the transformation of four different functions (each on its own set of axes).

Lastly, students are required to state the equations of functions after a transformation in section E.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.
