Unit Rates Involving Fractions WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet focuses on helping learners calculate and compare unit rates in real-world scenarios, all involving fractions. The worksheet is divided into four sections.

In Section A, students will find the multiplicative inverse of unit and non unit fractions and integers in preparation for calculating unit rates.

Section B guides learners through solving unit problems which increase in difficulty but the context remains the same, promoting understanding of how fractions work within proportional relationships.

Section C challenges students to determine unit rates for given problems such as “A painter paints 3/10 of a room in ¾ of an hour. How much of the room would the painter paint in 1 hour”.

Finally, in Section D pupils will use unit rates to make comparisons.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be confident with fraction arithmetic and converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions before tackling these unit rate problems. They'll also need experience solving direct proportion problems with integers, as this worksheet extends those skills to involve fractions in more complex real-world contexts.
