Volume of Cuboids WORKSHEET

Suitable for Year groups: Year 7, Year 8
GCSE Tier: Foundation/Higher
Targeting grades: 4-5
Prerequisite knowledge: Finding the area of rectangles. Converting metric units for length.
Learning Objective: Derive and apply formulae to calculate and solve problems involving volume of cuboids and cubes.

Volume of Cuboids WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Focus solely on finding the volume of various cuboids with this worksheet which will both support and challenge learners.

In Section A, learners will find the volume of four cuboids by first finding the area of a highlighted face before multiplying this by the third dimension to find its volume.

Section B, consists of four further cuboids, including a cube, for students to calculate the volume of, unguided. One question here gives measurements in cm and mm.

In Section C, learners will articulate what is wrong with a statement made about volume and within a volume calculation.

Lastly, Section D is made up of four problem solving questions including using a cuboid’s volume to find a missing length.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be confident with finding the area of rectangles, as this forms the foundation for calculating cuboid volumes by finding the base area first. They'll also need to be comfortable converting between metric units for length, particularly since some questions involve measurements given in different units like centimetres and millimetres.
