Writing Exact Answers Using Surds WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet follows on nicely from Simplifying Surds (A) and (B).

Section A consolidates multiplying and simplifying surds before some simplifying and collecting like surd questions.

Section B then asks learners to expand some brackets – single brackets, double brackets and squaring brackets – before simplification.

Section C involves some more simplifying and collecting like surds and the worksheet ends with an open extension question to challenge learners.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be confident with simplifying surds, collecting like terms, and expanding brackets before tackling this resource. These foundational skills are essential as the worksheet builds upon them to develop more complex surd manipulation techniques. I'd recommend ensuring pupils have completed the earlier Simplifying Surds worksheets (A) and (B) first.
