Compare Fractions less than 1 uses bar models to aid pupils in deciding which fraction from a pair is the largest and equivalent fractions to use inequalities to compare fractions.
In section A, pupils will colour in bar models to compare the size fractions.
Section B begins with an example showing pupils how to use equivalent fractions to compare. Scaffolding is provided for the first four questions; the denominator of the equivalent fraction is given.
Throughout section B, one denominator is always a factor of the other.
