Converting Lengths - Metres and Centimetres WORKSHEET

Suitable for Year groups: Year 3
Learning objective: Measure, compare, add and subtract lengths in m and cm

Converting Lengths - Metres and Centimetres WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Prepare your students to measure, compare, add and subtract lengths fluently in metres and centimetres by first looking at some equivalent measurements.

Learners will use a double number line to find equivalence of whole numbers of metres and centimetres in section A.

Lengths in cm such as 290 cm are partitioned into cm and m in section B using part whole models. Fractional lengths in metres are considered in section C where students calculate how many cm there are in ¼ , ½ and ¾ of a metre before applying this to find equivalences such as 150 cm = 1 ½ m.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

This worksheet helps Year 3 pupils develop their understanding of metric measures by working with metres and centimetres. They'll build confidence in converting between these units and recognise that the same length can be expressed in different ways, which is essential groundwork for the learning objective of measuring, comparing, adding and subtracting lengths in m and cm.
