Recognising Coins - 1p, 2p, 5p & 10p WORKSHEET

Suitable for Year groups: Year 1
Learning objective: Recognise and know the value of different denominations of coins.

Recognising Coins - 1p, 2p, 5p & 10p WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Pupils will recognise coins and consider their different values throughout this worksheet, where skip counting is used to determine the value of sets of the same coins.

In section A learners are asked to complete number tracks that will see them revisiting skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

Next, in section B pupils will state the value of each of the coins from 1p - 10p, put them in ascending order according to value, count the number of each of the coins in a set of mixed coins and state the value of each denomination.

Lastly, in section C learners must determine the value of coins in four different purses (each purse contains only the same denomination of coin), before answering questions such as which purse has the highest or lowest value of money in it.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

This worksheet focuses specifically on the four most common lower-value coins: 1p, 2p, 5p, and 10p pieces. Your child will learn to identify each coin by sight and understand what each one is worth, which forms the foundation for all future money work.
