Rounding Numbers to the Nearest 10 Using Number Lines (C) WORKSHEET

Suitable for Year groups: Year 4
Learning objective: Round any number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000.

Rounding Numbers to the Nearest 10 Using Number Lines (C) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This is the third in our set of differentiated worksheets on rounding to the nearest 10. In this version, students will use number lines to round numbers under 1000 to the nearest 10.

The worksheet begins with an example and then consists of 12 questions each with a blank number line. Students can label the number lines to aid them in rounding to the nearest 10.

Section B is made up of three-worded problems where pupils will write down all the numbers that round to 40, the smallest number that rounds to 70 and the largest number that rounds to 100.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

The blank number lines allow children to visualise where their given number sits between two multiples of 10, making it clearer which ten it's closer to. By labelling the lines themselves, pupils actively engage with the process and can see the halfway point that determines whether to round up or down. This visual approach supports the Year 4 learning objective of rounding any number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000.
