Fractions on Number Lines (A) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet is designed to get learners thinking about the positions of proper fractions on a 0 to 1 number line. They will need to use the related fraction given to position another along with considering the position of 1. Section A asks them to place a proper fraction and 1 given the position of the unit fraction with the same denominator. Section B then provides a proper fraction for learners to place the unit fraction and 1. Sections C and D then extend learners to think about equivalent fractions by providing fractions with a denominator which is a factor or multiple of the one they need to place.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be comfortable with unit fractions, proper fractions, equivalent fractions, and working with number lines from 0 to 1 before tackling this activity. Having a solid grasp of these foundational concepts will help them successfully navigate between the different sections and understand the relationships between fractions and their positions. This prior knowledge forms the building blocks for the more complex thinking required when working with factors and multiples of denominators.
