Indices Number Search WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This fun number search involves students finding terms involving indices which multiply together to make 1 or a^0.

Terms can be combined horizontally, vertically and diagonally and may contain up to four terms. There are 16 in total to find. Students will be using the multiplication index rule, and will have to multiply fractions by integers and terms consist of 1 or 2 variables. Why not add a competitive edge, who will find the most? Who will be the first to find all 16?

Pair this worksheet with Indices (B) or (C ) for more extensive variation and practice.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be confident with addition and subtraction involving directed numbers, as well as multiplication of fractions. These foundational skills are essential because the number search requires combining terms that involve both positive and negative indices, and students will need to multiply fractional expressions by integers to identify which combinations equal 1 or a^0.
