Students will work with indices of numbers throughout this worksheet.
In section A, they are asked to find the value of calculations such as 2^5 and 0.6^2 - 0.1^2.
Then in section B, learners will compare full expressions and index notation.
Section C gets more complicated as students consider statements such as 2^n = 8, and they have to state the value of n.
There is also an extension that will see learners investigate negative numbers and powers. Here, they will find -1 squared, cubed, to the power of four and five and use their findings to work out -1 to other powers such as 124 and 0.
