Introducing Factorisation WORKSHEET
Introducing Factorisation WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This worksheet aims to build on students' knowledge of expanding single brackets in order to introduce factorisation.
Throughout the worksheet, pupils will complete multiplication grids where they are multiplying two term expressions by a single term (either a constant or a variable).
The grid is completed by writing the factored form and the expanded form. As the worksheet progresses students have to fill in different parts of the multiplication grid, leading them naturally to an understanding of factorisation.
Then in section F students will list the HCF of two terms and finally in section G students will factorise 24 expressions, all with two terms but including negative variables, number and variable factors and sometimes both.
All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions
Students should be confident with multiplying a single term over a bracket before tackling this material. The worksheet deliberately builds upon this foundation skill to introduce the reverse process of factorisation. Having solid experience with expanding brackets will help pupils recognise the patterns when they start working backwards to factorise expressions.
