The second in our collection on order of operations, this worksheet introduces calculations including brackets and indices. Students are only required to square numbers in expressions containing indices.
Sections A and B begin with an example, where we encourage pupils to underline which part of the calculation they will work out first and second. This is to avoid any misconceptions, such as including a number twice within their calculations.
Next, in section C, students are faced with fifteen more questions to answer.
Sections D and E consist of three questions each where students have to insert brackets or choose the correct operation in order to make the statements true.
