Learning Objective: Using unitary method to form ratios in the form 1:n or n:1 and use them to solve problems.

Ratio Unitary Method 1:n and n:1 WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet allows learners to practise converting ratios to the form 1:n and n:1 as well as solve problems using the unitary method. Sections A and B ask for some ratios in the form a:b to be written in the form 1:n and n:1. Section C then asks for ratios in unitary form to be simplified. Section D then links the unitary form to exchange rates by requiring some in the form 1:n to be converted to n:1. Section E then brings in the link with map scales and different units. Section F ends the worksheet with some problems that lend themselves to being solved via a unitary method.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be comfortable with ratio notation and basic arithmetic operations before tackling this material. These foundational skills are essential because learners will need to manipulate ratios algebraically and perform calculations when working through the exchange rates and map scale problems. Without solid arithmetic skills, students may struggle with the unitary method calculations required in the later sections.
