Rearranging Formulae (A) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Rearranging formulae A takes higher tier students from rearranging formulae that take just one simple step to rearrange right through to more complex formulae that require as many as six steps and include inversing square roots and squaring. Some equations also contain brackets. Students can consider what effect expanding the brackets before rearranging has and whether two different answers are equivalent.

All formulas are expressed in the form y =, the only variables used are x and y, students are required to make x the subject in each case and the subject only appears once in each formula.

Learners can be encouraged to use substitution to check their rearrangement.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.
