Solving Linear Simultaneous Equations WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet is designed to give purposeful practice for solving linear simultaneous equations.

Section A provides sets of equations where one unknown can be found directly with an addition or subtraction without the need for any multiples or substitution.

Section B then provides sets of equations that will a multiple one of equation for the elimination method.

The question in section C will require multiples of both equations and the questions in section D will require some rearrangement before applying a method.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be comfortable with solving linear equations and have experience with substitution techniques before tackling this resource. These foundational skills are essential as they form the building blocks for the elimination method presented here. Without a solid grasp of these prerequisite areas, students may struggle with the more complex manipulations required in the later sections.
