Solving Quadratic Equations by Formula WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet provides some purposeful challenging practice in using the quadratic formula to solve quadratic equations.

It begins with some straightforward quadratics equations in section A, the formula is provided, and learners are asked to write the values of a, b and c before giving the solutions.

In section B some more straightforward equations are given before ending with a few that required rearrangement. An extension question then provokes some thought about quadratic equations with no real solutions and asks for conditions of the discriminant for each type of solution.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

This worksheet targets GCSE grades 6-7, making it suitable for higher-tier students who are working towards these grade boundaries. Students will need solid foundation skills in substitution and working with quadratic expressions before attempting these problems. The structured approach helps build confidence whilst challenging learners to demonstrate their understanding of the quadratic formula.
