Translations - from Words WORKSHEET
Translations - from Words WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Introduce your students to the translation of polygons with this worksheet. Here, your learners can build their confidence in completing a translation by drawing the image in the correct orientation before moving on to understanding translation vectors.
Section A consists of nine questions of an object and an image on individual square grids and asks students to describe each translation in words.
Next, in section B, starting with a simple square, students will begin translating images from worded instructions. Some objects and images will overlap here.
Ensure students carry out all translations with a pencil and a ruler.
All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions
Students should be comfortable recognising and describing basic directional movement - left, right, up, and down - before tackling these translation activities. This foundational understanding of direction will help them successfully describe the movements they observe in section A and follow the worded instructions in section B.
