Two-Way Tables and Ratio WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet develops confidence in completing two-way tables using ratio information across increasingly challenging contexts.

Section A begins with straightforward problems where totals must be divided into a given ratio, then develops into questions where pupils use differences between categories and single known values within a ratio to deduce all remaining entries.

Section B introduces richer algebraic thinking: students combine ratios with totals, use fractional relationships such as “one third of Year 8”, and form simple equations to find missing row and column values.

Section C then moves into reasoning and problem solving: learners interpret fully completed tables, judge statements as true or false, and correct errors when ratios have been misapplied. The final task explores situations with multiple valid solutions, prompting students to explain ambiguity and identify what extra information would be needed.

The progression moves from guided fluency to deeper reasoning and justified conclusions.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.
