Once students have understood fraction equivalence to one half, introduce them to the concept of fractions equivalent to one quarter. This worksheet uses the same variety of representations as 'Fractions Equivalent to One Half".
Section A asks students to state what fraction of each shape is shaded and then if they can identify any images which also show one-quarter shaded. There is room for thought as students are asked, "what do you notice?" thus encouraging students to think about how they can identify fractions equivalent to one quarter in the future.
Section B takes this a step further by asking learners to shade in a quarter of 5 different images.
A fraction wall is introduced in section C to give students variety in the representation of fractions and enables them to see clearly how different fractions can be equivalent. This would be a good time to discuss any other equivalent fractions they can see.
Finally, in section D, students put all of their learning together to find fractions equivalent to one quarter when they are given either a numerator or a denominator.
