Indices (B) WORKSHEET
Indices (B) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Your learners will be multiplying and dividing indices with the same bases throughout this worksheet, and they will have the opportunity to investigate brackets and powers.
In section A, pupils will evaluate expressions involving indices, including fractional bases and bases to the power of zero.
Section B consists of 12 expressions that need simplifying. Each expression contains the same base and will be simplified using the index laws for multiplication and division. Pupils will be challenged further in section c as they continue simplifying expressions, but here with a greater number of terms and expressions where division is shown as fractions.
The worksheet ends with an extension which sees pupils investigating brackets and powers and then using their findings to answer further questions.
All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions
Students should be comfortable with addition and subtraction using directed numbers, as they'll encounter negative indices throughout the problems. They also need to understand that fractions represent division, which is particularly important when working through the more challenging expressions in section C where division is presented in fractional form.
