Multiplying by Multiples of Ten WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Once students are comfortable with their times tables facts, they can begin to multiply larger numbers mentally. This worksheet will start learners by multiplying multiples of ten. In section A, pupils will begin by multiplying ten pairs of numbers such as 3 x 20 and 110 x 60.

Section B consists of six multiplication arithmagons. These get increasingly difficult as students will have to consider common factors of numbers up to 132,000 in order to solve the puzzles.

The problem-solving puzzles continue into section C. Here your students have two multiplication pyramids to complete. Each block is made of the products of the two numbers below. Again learners will have to think about multiplication and division to complete.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your pupils should be confident with their times tables up to 12 x 12 before tackling this resource. This foundation is essential because they'll be applying these familiar multiplication facts to work with multiples of ten. The learning objective focuses on using existing times tables knowledge to multiply by multiples of 10, so solid recall of basic facts will make the mental methods much more accessible.
