Properties of Trapezia WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This worksheet develops students’ understanding of the geometric properties of trapezia through classification and reasoning, making it an ideal first step towards calculating the area of trapezia.
In Section A, learners identify trapeziums within a range of shapes, complete gap-fill statements to describe their defining properties—such as one pair of parallel sides and equal non-parallel sides in an isosceles trapezium—and decide whether given statements are always, sometimes, or never true.
In Section B, students apply their knowledge by labelling the parallel sides and perpendicular heights on diagrams, and checking for correct identification. Through this process, they consolidate understanding of shape properties, spatial relationships, and the correct use of notation in preparation for area calculations.
