100 Square Grid  resource description

This is a printable hundred square.

100 Square Grid

What is the resource?

This PDF has a large grid containing numbers 1 to 100 arranged in rows and columns. Ideal for primary classrooms or homeschooling practice.

Why are 100 grids important?

They turn number patterns into something that can be seen and explored:

  • Counting & skip-counting: Kids trace rows/columns, see results for adding 1, 10, other values etc.
  • Place value: Hundreds, tens, and one's digits stand out on the rows - reinforcing positional value.
  • Prime & composite numbers: Colouring patterns when these are marked reveal number rules visually.
  • Early multiplication: Highlighting rows shows 'groups of the same size', building the array model.

Why is this resource helpful?

The 'blank' 100 grid's simplicity is its power, giving it  many learning uses:

  • One grid, multi-levels: Adjust tasks to fit abilities = less prep work needed across a year group.
  • Hands-on exploration: Kids colour, shade, cut – more tactile interaction leads to lasting memory.
  • Open-ended challenges: Find hidden shapes? Design puzzles for a partner? This sparks creativity.
  • Printable PDF: Allows unlimited copies for class work, take-home challenges, or even games.

The grid makes abstract ideas concrete. Learning number facts gain an investigative element to deepen understanding beyond pure recitation.
